FAQ - General
Yayasan Generasi Gemilang (GG) is a non-profit organisation under subsection 44(6) of the Income Tax Act 1967. We have been granted tax exemption status effective from June 1, 2020. Therefore, we’re pleased to inform you that all cash donations from 1 June 2020 onwards will be tax exempted.
This is only applicable to donors or donor entities that file taxes with “Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN)”, the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia.
There is no minimum donation amount required to be eligible for tax exemption.
However, for aggregate donations of RM20,000 and above made in a year, we are required to declare to “Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN)”.
You will receive an immediate notification from senangPay if your transaction is successful. This is followed by an official non-tax exemption receipt and a thank-you email from finance@gengemilang.org within 14 working days.
For cash donations, online banking and cheque transactions, you will receive your non-tax exemption receipt within 14 working days.
Please ensure that your contact details and email address are correct for us to be able to send you the non-tax exemption receipt.
Email Finance@gengemilang.org with the details listed below as soon as possible.
Late requests may not be accommodated due to regulatory constraints.

Tax-exemption Receipts (TER) will be issued quarterly. All donors who submitted their relevant details will be issued an electronic TER via email and donations above RM10 will receive both electronic TER and physical TER posted by normal mail.
Physical TER will be sent out via normal mail once every 6 months.
If your donation is RM10 and below, you may request to self-collect the physical TER from GG’s office at a scheduled time. Thank you for your kind understanding.
Effective January 2026, GG has implemented e-Invoicing in accordance with LHDN requirements.
An e-Invoice is Malaysia’s official digital tax document that’s validated by LHDN through its MyInvois system.
As a charitable foundation, we are required to comply with LHDN’s e-Invoicing rules and submit e-Invoices for monetary donations received—either as an individual e-Invoice or as a consolidated e-Invoice. This is for reporting purposes and it helps ensure every transaction is recorded accurately and transparently through the e-Invoice system.
- Validated & verifiable by LHDN, increasing audit‑ready assurance.
- Higher accuracy (structured fields like TIN/ID are checked during validation).
Note: Once an e‑Invoice has been issued to the donor, no separate manual tax exemption receipt is needed.
In conjunction with the implementation of Malaysia’s e‑Invoice, an individual e-Invoice can now serve as the official tax exemption receipt for eligible donations under subseksyen 44(6) Akta Cukai Pendapatan. For GG to issue an individual e‑Invoice to you, please provide the following details:
- Full Name (as per IC) / Company Name
- IC No. / Passport No. / Business Registration No. (BRN)
- Full Mailing Address
- Email Address
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- Contact Number
We are unable to issue an individual e-Invoice if the required details are incomplete.
In such cases, your donation will be included in a consolidated e‑Invoice, and we will issue a manual tax‑exemption receipt if we have the information for items 1–3.
Since e‑Invoices are sent automatically through our accounting system, please whitelist or add “finance@gengemilang.org” to your safe or approved sender list. This helps ensure that our emails reach your inbox and are not filtered into your junk folder.
Please refer to the following FAQ for more details about manual tax exemption receipts:
- “How do I request for a tax-exemption receipt / e-Invoice”
- “When will I receive my Tax-exemption Receipt?
Yes, IF both your donation and the required details reach us by the 20th of the month.
If either your donation or the required details reach us after the 20th, we’ll include your donation in our consolidated e‑Invoice to LHDN and arrange a manual tax‑exemption receipt for you.
FOR PLEDGE DONORS
If your monthly pledge debit date is after 20th, you can move your debit date to 1st of the month so we can issue your e‑Invoice dated within the same month.
Refer to "My pledge donation is charged after 20th, I want to change the charge date to 1st of the month"
Thank you for your support from overseas!
In addition to the 2.7% processing fee charged by our payment gateway, your donation is subject to foreign exchange conversion rates and transaction fees that are charged by your foreign bank or credit card provider.
We have to adhere to the strict deadline according to LHDN’s timeline. Late requests may not be accommodated due to regulatory constraints.
- By the 20th of each month: Please ensure both your donation and the required details reach us so we can issue an individual e‑Invoice dated within the same month.
- Accuracy matters: Double‑check your details, as incorrect information may result in the e-Invoice not being validated by LHDN. Once validated, changes are limited.
- Pledge donors: If your debit date is after 20th of the month, you may consider moving it earlier in the month to ensure receiving the individual e-Invoice within the same‑month of your giving.
- If you miss the cut‑off: Your donation will be included in our consolidated e‑Invoice to LHDN, and you’ll receive a manual tax‑exemption receipt instead.
